Firefox keywords (more)

Andy mentioned how useful Firefox keywords are for Trac. Remember a quick way to create your own shortcuts is to right-click on any search form and click on “Add a keyword for this search…” Or even quicker, download this handy set that I adapted from Lifehacker’s. Here’s how to install it:

  • Save the link to your desktop
  • In Firefox, from the Bookmarks menu, choose “Organize Bookmarks.”
  • From the Bookmarks Manager File menu, choose Import. Choose “Import Bookmarks from File.” Browse to and open the file you just saved.

Comments

Guys, seriously. Save yourself a hell of a lot of effort, and take a look at yubnub - http://yubnub.org.

[I said something similar on Andy's post, but the comment never turned up]

Yubnub reminds me of DQSD, which I see it also integrates with. I used to be addicted to DQSD, but since WinXP Service Pack 2 it became a real hassle (the dreaded yellow warning message), and that gradually ruined it for me.

Still, of the 100s of commands in DQSD (which seems to be Yubnub's main attraction too), I never used more than a core of 10 or so, and Firefox keywords have pretty much replaced those. Also one less input box on the screen.
